You would expect that if he was stood down for medical reasons they would have mentioned that in the announcement.

I think that besides the religious facet of this man, people don’t appreciate that he served in Vietnam and if he was in the battlefield that would explain if the man drank to k1ll then hurt and the pain and the horror and the shock. If you were there you know how many US soldiers were on d7rgs just to cope with the unbearable and if they came back alive to the US after a couple of tours, they became alc0h01ics or d7ug abusers. Anyway if the booze is true, being in the battlefield may explain and mitigate.Maybe I sound like a judgmental prick, but thats exactly the reason a man like this has no business being a member of a Governing Body that controls the lives of 8 million people.
Particularly when that body expects its members to exercise self-control in all areas of life and not bring reproach on the organisation, or else suffer the risk of disfellowshipping.

He comes across as the kind of guy that would be overbearing with a couple of scotches under his belt.
I can only imagine what it would be like sitting on a commitee with him.

Tony Morris departure is not accidental it coincides with the 2 NEW governing body members being brought in only last month. I believe Mark Sanderson who sees himself as the new Nathan Knorr is moving the strings behind the scenes. In the same way Nathan Knorr oversaw the massive changes after the embarrassing reign of Judge Rutherford so it is now. Mark Sanderdon wants to see off the old guard, Tony,Lett and Sam that are 3 embarrassing fools that have damaged the organisation the past 20 years with the mishandling of pedophilia cases and the demise of the religious to nothing more but a very toxic brandFor arguments sake, if the plan was to replace 2 old GB with 2 new ones, it is a tough call as to who will be the next to go. Its between Herd or Lett definitely, in my mind Herd goes before Lett.
In one way it will be a shame to see TM3 go, because he can always be counted on for some bizarre rant and provides entertainment. Morris, Lett and Herd are the characters of the GB. The 2 new guys look way too sober to provide any real fun.

And if you try to talk to your old JW friends about it, they will end up shunning you. Then they will tell others in the cong about you, and they will tell others and they will shun you too.
After giving your youth to the organisaton and turning your back on your dreams and interests, your reward for being honest is to have all of your social network taken off you, including friends you may have had for decades.
How can any JW that lived through the 80's and 90's and then witnessed first hand all the changes to doctrine that came later, not question their beliefs?
How did it come to this?
JW's are conditioned to place loyalty above honesty.

In regards gun laws, this person was already not permitted to have a gun, this happened near Chicago, an area with the most stringent gun laws in the world (even worse than Europe). Are you being serious?

How to debunk the 1914 calculus ONLY using JW publications?
by psyco ini remember having read somewhere, but i cannot find it anymore, that it is possible to debunk the 1914 calculus using only jw publications, like "insight on the scriptures" (chronologies) for example.. do you have any sources about that to suggest to me?.

Threats in field service?
by enoughisenough inin reading about the 54 year old man being shot, i was wondering if any of you were ever shot at, or threatened with a gun.. i was in a car group where a woman came out waving around, telling us to get off her land.
in another situation a man told the car group to turn and leave or he was calling the cops.

Just the usual 'f*ck off' and stuff like that. I remember one guy ripping into my father because he was 'dragging his kids around in the heat'. It was in Queensland and a tropical 36 degrees celsius at the time so he probably had a point.
